The Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced job opportunities for Kenyan drivers.

In an advertisement published on its website, TRA noted that interested and qualified individuals should submit their academic and professional certificates by Monday, December 1, 2025.

The state corporation asked suitable candidates to apply for the positions through its official recruitment email.

“Qualified and interested candidates are requested to submit their application letter, curriculum vitae (which contains details of qualifications, work experience, email and telephone contacts, including names, telephone and email contacts of three (3) referees, who must be familiar with the candidates’ previous work experience) and copies of all certificates & relevant testimonials in PDF format via recruitment@tra.go.ke to the director general,” the advertisement states.

What are the requirements for TRA driver jobs?

  1. At least three years of experience in the grade of driver II.
  2. Applicants must have at least a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain).
  3. A valid driver’s licence that is free of any current endorsements and suitable for any class of vehicles or plants that the officer must operate.
  4. Completed the grade III occupational trade test for drivers at the Ministry of Roads and Public Works or the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT).
  5. A minimum one-week First-Aid Refresher Certificate Course offered by St John Ambulance, the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other accredited organisation.
  6. Passed the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology’s or the Ministry of Roads and Public Works’ Grade III driver suitability test.
  7. Defensive driving certificate.
  8. Meet the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

  1. Driving a motor vehicle as authorised.
  2. Carrying out routine checks on vehicles.
  3. Maintaining work tickets for vehicles assigned

The authority clarified that successful candidates must submit a tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority and other documents.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations certificate of good conduct, the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) clearance certificate, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) tax compliance certificate, the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC) clearance form, and a recognised Credit Reference Bureau’s (CRB) clearance certificate must all be obtained and submitted by successful candidates,” it added.
