Job vacancies at Safaricom

1. Big data engineer – November 26, 2025

Requirements:

  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid understanding of data engineering principles, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Over 5 years’ experience building cloud-based data engineering solutions
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development in any of the following programming languages: Python, Java, or Scala.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with data processing frameworks such as EMR Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, or Apache NiFi.
  • Familiarity with database systems such as SQL databases, NoSQL databases, and distributed file systems, both cloud and on-premise.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

2. Senior administrator, governance – November 30, 2025

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a busy corporate environment.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in law, business, business administration, corporate governance or a related field.
  • Accredited project management certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in interacting with senior leadership and board directors.

3. Governance specialist – November 30, 2025

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience (post completion of CPS course) in a busy corporate and/or certified secretarial practice environment.
  • A Bachelor of Arts in Business Management, Science, Commerce, Business Administration or a similar degree from an accredited University
  • Certified Public Secretary CPS (K) registered with the Institute of Certified Secretary and a holder of a current practicing certificate.
  • Accredited governance auditor with ICPSK will be an added advantage.

4. Governance specialist – November 30, 2025

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience (post completion of CPS course) in a busy corporate legal department/law firm and/or certified secretarial practice.
  • Certified Public Secretary CPS (K) registered with the Institute of Certified Secretaries and a holder of a current practising certificate.
  • Bachelor of Law Degree with a current practising certificate.
  • A solid understanding of corporate transactions (M&As, joint ventures and restructuring) and risk mitigation strategies and should be able to provide legal advisory in these areas.
  • A solid understanding of corporate governance best practice and experience of applying this understanding pragmatically in support of boards and committees with diverse members.

5. Principal, enterprise IoT & ICT presales, architecture & integration – November 24, 2025

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in a technical pre-sales, solutions architecture, or systems engineering role, preferably within a telecommunications, MSP, or technology vendor environment.
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, LAN/WAN, SD-WAN) and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two of the following domains: Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), Cybersecurity, IoT platforms, or Unified Communications.

6. Accountant – Tax – November 24, 2025

Requirements:

  • Honors degree from a recognized university in business or related field
  • At least one full professional qualification in accounting namely CPA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 years’ proven track record of having worked in a similar role in the Tax field with a progressive accounting firm or a Law firm or with a minimum of 4 years’ tax and accounting experience in a well-run company.

7. Big data platforms analytics engineer – November 25, 2025

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of data analytics principles, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, or Apache Flink.
  • Familiarity with database systems such as SQL databases, NoSQL databases, and distributed file systems.

8. Engineer – RAN optimisation (Coast Region) – November 21, 2025

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering
  • A team player with excellent problem-solving skills, a positive attitude & good work ethics.
  • Candidates with Hands–on experience in GSM, WCDMA, and LTE optimisation will have an added advantage.
  • Practical knowledge on the use of any radio planning tools and nominal cell planning.
  • Practical knowledge in data analysis and manipulation via the Excel tool.
