The family of Anthony Otieno Olwal, a deliveryman from Nairobi county, is grieving and seeking justice after he was brutally murdered.

Olwal was killed at a short-stay apartment in the South B area on November 18, where he had gone to make a delivery.
What happened to Anthony Olwal?
The father of three was carrying an iPhone 17 Pro Max, as per the client’s order, and was expected to complete the delivery as he would with any other job. However, this delivery took a tragic turn.
Hours later, Olwal was found dead at the Meridian Apartment, in one of the rooms rented as an Airbnb.
His hands and feet were bound, and he had been gagged. Post-mortem examinations revealed that he had been struck with a blunt object.

As investigations into the gruesome murder continue, CCTV footage has emerged showing the moments before and after Olwal’s tragic death.
The footage, shared by KTN News Kenya, shows Olwal standing on the fourth floor of the Meridian Apartment at around 11:50 am on Tuesday, November 18.
He is holding his phone, seemingly trying to contact the client.
A minute later, he is seen being ushered into a room while holding a blue carrier bag containing the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
At 12:01 pm, one of the three suspects who had booked the room was seen fleeing the scene, carrying a brown suitcase as he hurried down the stairs.

Did Anthony Olwal’s alleged killers leave iPhone 17?
According to investigators, one of the suspects allegedly killed Olwal and stuffed the iPhone into the suitcase.
The suspect, wearing a mask, was seen leaving the building, followed by the second suspect.
A minute later, the third suspect also exited the room, carrying what is believed to be the murder weapon.
The three men later met Charity Muthoni, the landlady and owner of the Airbnb room they had booked, just outside the apartment building.
According to Charity, the three men had not paid her in full. Before they fled, she unknowingly grabbed the brown suitcase, unaware that it contained the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Kenyans puzzled Anthony Olwal’s killers leave iPhone behind
Following the murder, Olwal’s family, along with many Kenyans online, have raised questions about the motive behind his death.
Many believe that leaving the iPhone behind suggests that the killing was not motivated by robbery, but rather by a more sinister intent.

“What was the motive behind the murder? I believe it wasn’t about the phone—perhaps they didn’t even know who was making the delivery.”

“Seems like there was a different reason for the murder. If they left the phone behind, there’s more to this. The couple needs to be arrested for questioning.”

“If they had taken the phone, it could have been a case of ‘payment upon delivery.’ Maybe they were thieves who didn’t want to pay but still needed the phone. However, leaving the phone behind suggests there was another motive, perhaps they knew the rider. It’s possible the rider might have witnessed something they shouldn’t have, which led to his tragic end. But, in any case, I thought BnBs usually take thorough details of their clients this should be investigated.”

“In my opinion, maybe the suspects didn’t want the phone but wanted to get the phone’s owner into trouble.”
What did Anthony Olwal’s family say after his death?
TUKO.co.ke reported that the deliveryman’s brother, Isaiah Ochieng’, called for justice, sharing screenshots of WhatsApp chats with the client.
Ochieng’ noted that his brother left the shop at around 10:30, only for his phone to be switched off, and he was found dead hours later.
Olwal’s wife also shared details of their last phone call, noting that her husband had promised to call back after making his delivery, but never did.
