His passing was confirmed by Governor Mutula Kilonzo, who expressed his heartfelt condolences in a press release on Saturday, November 22.
Munyao, a long-serving legislator for Mbooni Constituency, had a significant influence within the National Rainbow Coalition, where he also served as Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Development.
When did Joseph Konzolo Munyao’s wife die?
“On behalf of the people of Makueni County, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Mbooni community following the passing of former Mbooni MP, Joseph Konzolo Munyao. Munyao served our nation with dedication and humility, always deeply committed to the well-being of his constituents,” Kilonzo said.
The Governor added that Munyao’s contributions to leadership and development would be long remembered.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this difficult time.”
Munyao’s death comes just over a year after he lost his wife. In June 2024, mourners gathered at his residence in Karen to offer condolences, and the ABC Makadara Choir visited to pray with him.
One of the images showed a priest greeting Munyao, who donned khakis, a shirt and a sweater.
The choir condoled with the former MP, writing:

In other news, Kilonzo also confirmed the death of Sonnia, the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture, and Tourism.
She passed away on Saturday, November 22, with news of her death spreading quickly online, leaving her colleagues and friends heartbroken.
Sonnia was reportedly found dead at her home, but the cause of her death remains unclear.
A check on her Facebook revealed her last post was on Wednesday, November 19, where she shared images from a county development project.
Just a day before her death, she had promoted an event in Mtito Andei, where she planned to lead environmental awareness activities.
