Otieno had been tasked with delivering an Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max to a client when he tragically met his death.
The father of three’s phone went off shortly after he arrived at the destination. Hours later, news broke that he had been found dead under a bed.
Tony Mwenda, the deceased’s colleague in the delivery business, narrated their last conversation before Otieno’s death.
What did Anthony Olwal‘s friend say?
“He called me in the morning, a few minutes past 9:30am. He told me he had a delivery to make. The client wanted the latest Apple phone. He asked me to get the phone from another seller. I went to my friend Ken and got the phone for Otieno. Since we cannot afford such high-end phones and do not usually deal in them, I had to borrow it from Ken,” he said.
Mwenda gave Otieno the phone to go and sell so he could make a profit, after which they would repay Ken.
He noted that the phone is currently in the custody of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and they are unsure if they will ever recover it.
“We don’t even know how we will pay for it. That is the biggest challenge,” he added.
Netizens react to Anthony Olwal‘s death
Social media users flocked to the comment section, sharing their mixed reactions to the developing story.
veejay001:
“This trick is so rampant in Kenya, conmen pretending they’ll ‘refer you to a brother nearby to confirm the item, then pay’. Now see, buyers have killed someone’s son because a male scammer calling himself ‘Grace’ from Eldoret lured the deceased into a trap.”
dickensojiambo275:
“Arrest those criminals! Where murder is still illegal, there should be justice. If it were an MP who’d been killed, the suspects would already be in custody. DCI, stop with the excuses, the CCTV is there, the faces are clear.”
jasminewest6826:
“This is beyond fraud. It’s cold-blooded murder, and those killers deserve the harshest punishment.”
annewanjiru818:
“My question is: What was the intention behind this murder? What did they hope to gain by killing him?”
superkidsafricatv7152:
“May the people who did this never find peace. May their suffering be beyond imagination.”
wayweshPeter:
“Organ trafficking is real, especially women being used to lure men. Be alert. My condolences to the family.”

Anthony Olwal‘s last CCTV moments
Separately, CCTV footage of Otieno’s last movements and the faces of the suspects emerged.
When Otieno entered the building, he appeared confused, as though searching for the house number.
He kept checking his phone, seemingly expecting a call or text from the client to guide his next move.
The suspects were later seen leaving the building through a different exit after killing Otieno, a father of three.
