During a media briefing on Saturday, November 22, Kuria accused the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders of attempting to interfere with the November 27 mini-poll.

Why did Moses Kuria warn the IEBC?

The Chama Cha Kazi Party leader cautioned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against allowing insecurity to disrupt the ongoing campaigns for this week’s by-elections.

The vocal politician warned that if not controlled, chaos in the by-election might actually ruin the country’s reputation in the international community, which is closely monitoring the situation.

“Just the other day, someone said that Gachagua should not come here, and I told IEBC to catch those people, and I put pressure and ensured that those people were summoned by the DCI, because I said that if Gachagua is touched, I’m also touched because there can be no integrity in the election if one person is the one to decide,” Kuria said.

He told President Ruto that the violence being witnessed in various parts of the country might not be good for the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Why Moses Kuria warned William Ruto about Mbeere North

Kuria said recent violence in Narok, Mbeere North and Bungoma should be investigated by the electoral commission.

“I was here in 2007, and I saw what Kenya went through, and I can’t keep quiet because my heart has no peace. If you look in Narok, Mbeere North, and other areas, there is widespread insecurity. I want to ask President William Ruto directly, the international community is watching,” the former CS said.

Kuria cautioned aspiring leaders against electoral malpractice, emphasising that Kenyans’ tolerance for such actions is at an all-time low and that any attempts at rigging will be futile due to increased public awareness.

According to the Chama Cha Kazi party leader, Kenyans will not allow their votes to be stolen, even by those in power.

“You think whatever happened in Tanzania will be replicated here? Kenyans are not Tanzanians. Don’t try it here. It will not be business as usual in Kenya. It won’t be business as usual if you try that monkey business here. Kenyans’ level of tolerance for nonsense is at its lowest. Any plot to rig elections can’t work here,” he stated.

Who will win the Mbeere North seat?

Meanwhile, a Mizani Africa opinion poll showed who is likely to win the Mbeere North parliamentary seat.

A Mizani Africa survey showed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wa Muthende will emerge victorious.

According to the poll, conducted between November 17 and 19 among 800 respondents, Wa Muthende commands 44.6% of voter support, giving him a slight lead over his rivals.
