The emotional ceremony drew neighbours, relatives, and fellow soldiers, all united by the heartbreaking loss of a young man whose life ended far too soon.

Yet beneath the solemn tributes and the unrelenting tears, it was the quiet presence of his two small children that carried the deepest sorrow.
In a turn of fate almost too painful to comprehend, Victor’s children, aged just three and one, are now left without both parents.
Kenya Police Media reports that their mother was buried in May 2025, a tragedy the family was still struggling to come to terms with.
Now, only months later, the little ones found themselves at their father’s graveside, unaware of the finality unfolding before them.

Although they are too young to grasp the meaning of death, those close to the family say the children can already feel the emptiness that loss brings.
Community elders, clergy, and relatives offered prayers, asking God to grant the extended family strength, compassion, and unity as they prepare to take on the responsibility of raising the children.
As the final salute faded and the red soil covered the soldier’s coffin, one message echoed through the village:
“Rest well, Victor. Your duty is done. May the same community that honoured your service now stand guard over the little ones you leave behind.”

Nairobi mum dies in remand, leaves infant
In another heartbreaking story, a young mother who was arrested shortly after giving birth, has died before securing her freedom.
The woman had been imprisoned with her infant daughter before her health deteriorated while she was still in custody.
Since the inmate died, her baby girl, who is less than a year old, has been sleeping in a cell, waiting for a mother who will never return.
Wangari, the Nairobi advocate who was handling her case, appealed to the public for support, whether to help with funeral expenses or to ensure the child is not forgotten by the world.
