The incident was first reported by a security guard, Patrick Mbugua, who told police that the group had been partying on the 12th floor and had earlier been warned to reduce the noise.
At around 4.10am, four of the suspects reportedly left and later returned. Moments later, a loud bang was heard, and the guard discovered the victim’s body at the bottom of the building.
Police said the students are believed to have been with the deceased throughout the night before her death.
A search conducted in the house of the first respondent recovered items believed to belong to the deceased, including her national ID card, a pair of shoes, and a mobile phone.
Who are the suspects in Lorna Kathambi’s murder?
According to an affidavit filed at the Milimani Law Courts by Corporal Johnnes Nyangige of DCI Parklands, the suspects, also students from different institutions, are Dennis Kariuki Gitonga, Loise Osiro, Lucy Mora, Ali Kibwana Kamaku, Precious Kendi Mutembei, Austin Ochieng, and Wendy Kerubo.

The investigating officer told the court that the murder investigation is complex and incomplete, with several tasks outstanding, including recording additional witness statements, analysing all suspects’ phones at the DCI forensic lab, and retrieving CCTV footage from Harmony Plaza.
The investigating officer also argued that the respondents have no fixed abode, pose a flight risk, and may interfere with investigations if released on bail.
The senior principal magistrate granted the officer’s request and ordered the suspects to be held for seven days at Parklands Police Station as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased, who lives in Meru, is yet to identify the body to allow for a post‑mortem examination.
