Philip Aroko has accepted defeat in the Kasipul by-election battle with a calm message to his supporters, hours after ODM’s Boyd Were was declared the next MP.

An independent candidate, Aroko came second, addressing his supporters shortly after the final tally, speaking directly to the thousands who stood with him throughout the intense campaign.

The businessman’s message was steady and heartfelt, aimed at lifting spirits rather than dwelling on his defeat.
“To my cherished constituents and supporters both in Kasipul and across the nation, I extend my deepest and most sincere gratitude for your true love and support,” he said.
Aroko noted that the campaign had been powered by the community’s enthusiasm, describing the experience as a journey that shaped his commitment and a desire for progress.
“This journey has been a testament to your commitment and while the path has been challenging, your spirit has made every step worthwhile. I was truly moved by the extraordinary passion and profound concern you exhibited during the recent Kasipul by-election,” he added.
What are Aroko’s future plans.
The MP hopeful reminded his supporters that setbacks do not erase effort, and neither should they weaken determination.
Aroko’s concession closed a chapter on the hotly contested by-election without bitterness and kept his political future open.
“I remain forever indebted to the people of Kasipul, today and for all the days to come. Together, Team OTETE established deep and lasting roots in every home, every clan and every community within this great constituency. To those constituents who may feel disheartened today, I feel you deeply. Please know that you have done me a profound honour,” he said.

He suggested taking another stab at the seat in the future, telling his support base that their’s a next time and their dreams for a better constituency remain alive.
“Let us remember: there is always a next time.We must not let this moment diminish our resolve. Stay strong. Stay united. Our journey toward a better Kasipul is far from over,” he added in his concession statement.
What margin did Boyd defeat Aroko?
Aroko’s message followed a decisive win by ODM’s Boyd Were, whose landslide margin reaffirmed the party’s grip on the constituency.
According to official results announced by IEBC’s Kasipul returning officer Rebecca Abwakhu, Were garnered 16,819 votes. Aroko trailed with 8,476 votes, placing him a distant second.
Her final announcement triggered loud celebrations from ODM supporters who had filled the hall in anticipation of the outcome.
Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma joined Boyd as supporters broke into chants.
Kaluma, who had earlier been assaulted during the voting process, appeared alongside the team in a show of solidarity as the constituency welcomed its new MP-elect.
