The flamboyant artiste questioned what the current senator, Edwin Sifuna, has done for the county and vowed to shake things up in the coming general election.
Is KRG The Don running for Nairobi senate?
In an interview with Chris The Bass, KRG also wondered if Sifuna was a true Nairobian and claimed it was time to send him back home.
“He will have to look for a different place because I do not think Sifuna is from Nairobi. He just came the other day, we have not known him in Nairobi for more than 15 years. He is a visitor here. He has been a senator, and he will have to come back to the voters and tell them what he has done, because I cannot see anything he has done. We do not call him to talk,” he said.

According to KRG, Sifuna has made a name for himself through constantly critiquing President William Ruto.
“Fighting William Ruto is not his job; Nairobi is not ODM, that is just a party. Right now, they should be quiet because their boss is Ruto. The party owner was called Raila Odinga, our father. And he said people should stay in the broad-based government. Where is he getting the authority to fight someone who was a party owner?” he added.
The Mambo Imechemka crooner also added that he will be on the ballot and warned his opponents to watch out.
“Look at me properly, my name is Bughaa. I am just telling you, if you know you will run for senate in Nairobi county, be ready to meet this face. Because you will see it until you get surprised and question what this is. I am not joking. Just show me one thing Sifuna has done in Nairobi. His biggest job has been fighting the president, and that is not a senator’s work,” he added.

Can KRG beat Sifuna?
Political commentator Arnold Maliba told TUKO.co.ke that anyone can beat Sifuna, but they will need to plan accordingly.
“In Nairobi today, there’s no current candidate who can measure up to Sifuna, but elections are not geometrical; many factors and dynamics overlap and approval ratings alone cannot guarantee re-election. In a match-up between Sifuna and KRG for the senate race, it is an unfair comparison, much like comparing oranges and apples. Time and again, Nairobi voters have breached the political party lines and picked candidates, especially for county-level seats. So, whereas Sifuna, like any other person, can be defeated in Nairobi, KRG is not that person,” he said.

Why did KRG quit music?
Elsewhere, in 2024, KRG announced that he was stepping away from Kenya’s entertainment scene to pursue a career in politics.
The Mambo Imechemka hitmaker added that he wanted to prioritise his family, faith, and business.
His decision sparked backlash online, with many questioning why he was retiring when he had yet to release widely recognised hits.
