Kenyans are impressed on social media after seeing the investment made by Raila Odinga’s long-serving bodyguard, Maurice Ogeta.

Ogeta rose to national attention following the former prime minister’s death in India. The bodyguard was with Raila when he passed away, and the politician’s death hurt him deeply.
From the moment he alighted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with Raila’s body, Ogeta cut a lonely figure. He shed tears on several occasions as he deeply mourned Raila.
Ogeta served Raila for over 18 years and shared how their bond had evolved from friendship to a father-son relationship.
Over the years, they travelled, enjoyed football matches, and faced dangerous moments together. In a heartfelt tribute, Ogeta said that Raila’s legacy of fighting for a better Kenya would endure for generations to come.

After the burial, Ogeta disappeared from the public eye, leading to speculation about his whereabouts and well-being. However, images and a video shared on Saturday, November 29, shed light on the developments he had been secretly making.
Images shared on Facebook showed Ogeta visiting the three-story apartment, accompanied by quite a crowd. He donned a white t-shirt and his signature military-style glasses.

The apartment was finished with grey and white paint, with numerous tanks on the roof.
According to influencer Elijah Omondi, Ogeta gifted the units to his family.
“From Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, CPO Maurice Ogeta led his family and gifted them each a one-bedroom self-contained house as an appreciation and to help them with their upkeep in the coming days. This is a building he’s been putting up in Bondo.”

A video showed family members acknowledging that Ogeta had gifted them the houses.
“I’m grateful to God for what has happened today. God has done a wonderful thing this evening. I did not imagine Maurice could do something like this,” a man said.

“Ogeta has given each family rooms for five years to collect rent, after which they will hand them back. Do not forget your house number, so you don’t end up collecting rent from one that doesn’t belong to you,” said a woman.
