She left Bahati and Diana’s household in 2024, but soon after faced criticism for appealing to Kenyans for financial support. She explained that she could not afford the rent for her bedsitter and described living in poor conditions with minimal furniture. In a YouTube video, she gave a tour of her small space, revealing that she had only a mattress.
She said that financial difficulties forced her to send her son back to the village. However, many Kenyans were critical of her request for assistance, questioning what she had done with the KSh 100,000 monthly salary she claimed the Bahatis paid her. However, it seems Nekesa has been silently building a home for her family upcountry.
How big is Irene Nekesa’s house?
On Saturday, November 29, the influencer shared a glimpse of the building’s interior.
The almost two-minute clip showed her in what appeared to be the living room.
The walling was done and plastered, and the support for the ceiling was installed.
A black steel door opened to the outside via a small veranda. The house seemed quite expansive and had an ensuite bedroom on one side. On the other side of the living room was a bedroom. There was also another house in the compound.
“By faith we continue, and we will get to the end. I just want to say thank you for all you have done for me,” she captioned the video.
Building contractor Jackson Chirchir, who viewed the video, told TUKO.co.ke that the house was likely a two-bedroom home.
“The price of construction varies depending on a myriad of factors, including the materials used and the location. Since she hails from Western Kenya, I would place the current cost before finishing touches at around KSh 2 million,” he said.
