In a tweet, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) indicated that it will be carrying out periodic system maintenance in the affected areas.

Which counties will face power cuts on December 4?

According to the notice, some areas in eight counties will be without electricity for almost nine hours starting at 8am.

Among the counties to be affected are Nairobi, Kericho, Taita Taveta, Kakamega, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Kilifi and Bomet.

1. Nairobi County

Area: Parts of Eastleigh (9am – 5pm)

Hombe Road, Nairobi Polytechnic, Don Bosco High School, Kipande Athumani Street, Mweni Road, Racecourse Primary, Barakaat Hospital, Muratina Street, Jam Street, Ushirika Estate and adjacent customers.

Area: Tassia NGO (9am – 3pm)

Tassia NGO and adjacent customers.

2. Kiambu County

Area: Kwa Maiko, Marige, Miguta (9am – 5pm)

Kanjai, Miguta, Kwa Ndonga, Nyaga Shops, Kiairia, Kiambururu, Kanjuku, Ndathini, Gakoe, Gathugu, Kiguma, Marige, Kibichoi Shops, Mount Moriah, Kwa Maiko Shops, Raiyani, Mitahato, Ngenia, Ngwee House, Mchana Estate, Osho Mills, Oaklands Estate, Nembu, Gateiguru, Nginduri, Kahuguini, Karembu, Kigaa, Ngenda, St Monica Ndithiati, Kagera and adjacent customers.

Area: Uthiru, Muthiga (9am – 5pm)

3. Kirinyaga County

Area: Makutano, Rukanga (9am – 5pm)

4. Kilifi County

Area: Parts of Sabaki (9am – 5pm)

5. Taita Taveta County

Area: Maktau (9am – 5pm)

Whole of Matkau Town, Godoma, Kwa Mnegwa, Lumo Conservancy and Hotel and adjacent customers.

6. Kakamega County

Area: Chimoi (9am – 5pm)

Kaburengu, Chimoi, Manda, Luandeti, Matutu, Mukhonje, Chekalini, Bishop Njenga Girls and adjacent customers.

7. Bomet County

Area: Dikirr, Mokondo, Kirindon (8am – 5pm)

Esoit, Murkan, Kurangurik, Dikirr, Mambo Leo, Kapolecho, Mokondo, Simotwet, Kapweria, Tumda, Kiletien, Chemmamit, Kiriwet, Kapsinendet and adjacent customers.

8. Kericho County

Area: Kapsoit Market (9am – 5pm)

Ernest Tea, Kapnandet, SPI, Keriwest, Ngejerok Water Pump and adjacent customers.

Did KPLC install new meter reading technology?

In other news, Kenya Power began nationwide deployment of a new meter-reading technology.

The utility said the new system is aimed at improving billing accuracy, speeding up data collection and eliminating errors associated with manual entry.
