Betty’s widower, Tash (Hiram Gitau), has been caring for the kids at their Edenville home, but Betty’s family publicly called the biological father, Kanyari, to take custody.

The discussion intensified after Betty’s mother, who did not attend her burial, petitioned the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for an inquest into the circumstances of her daughter’s death.

She alleged that Betty had no pre-existing conditions and suggested that her burial may have been rushed to cover up foul play.

What did Pastor Kanyari say about the drama surrounding Betty’s death?

In response to the ongoing saga, Kanyari took to social media, posting a lengthy statement hours after Betty’s mum’s petition emerged.

He emphasised that his priority is the well-being of his children, asserting that no online rumours or sensational narratives will take precedence over their healing.

“I am a father before I am anything else. Sky and Danny have lost their mother. No rumour, no trending topic, and no online narrative will ever matter more than their healing. My duty right now is not to argue with strangers on the internet, it is to guide my children through a loss they did not ask for,” he wrote.

The man of God asked for peace to be allowed to mourn and care for his children as they all cope with the loss of Betty.

“I deserve space to mourn in dignity. Let the internet say what it wants. Let people speculate as they wish. But God sees the truth. God knows the journey. God knows the heart. I will continue to focus on my children, my faith, and the calling God placed on my life. Everything else is just noise,” he added.

Additionally, he expressed a desire for his late ex-wife to be allowed to rest in peace, away from the narratives and rumours surrounding her life and her children.

“The mother of my children deserves peace. My children deserve respect. May her soul rest in peace, and may God heal every heart that is hurting in silence,” he concluded.
