At least 28 passengers have been injured after an Easy Coach bus rammed into a trailer along the Nakuru–Kisumu Highway on Monday, December 15.

The accident occurred past Salgaa, a section of road long regarded as a black spot due to frequent crashes.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and ferried the injured to hospitals in Nakuru. The bus was travelling from Nairobi to Kisumu at the time of the collision.

While witnesses reported multiple casualties, Easy Coach is yet to confirm the exact number of those affected as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.

Meanwhile, the wreckage revealed an extremely damaged bus on the front and partly on the side.

This latest incident adds to growing concerns over repeated night accidents along the highway.

Another Easy Coach bus crashes in Chemoset

The crash came just hours after another Easy Coach bus overturned near the Chemoset area along the Eldoret-Kitale Highway, injuring several passengers.

Company staff confirmed that a woman, reportedly the wife of a police officer, died on the spot. Witnesses described scenes of panic as rescuers pulled victims from the wreckage.

One eyewitness said she was shocked by the scale of injuries, which ranged from minor cuts to severe tissue damage.

It came just hours after another tragic crash on the Kisumu–Kisii Highway near Chabera, where 10 people lost their lives.

The accident occurred when the Nissan matatu they were travelling in collided head-on with a lorry from Oyugis towards Katito. This occurred after the lorry reportedly lost control and veered into the Nissan’s lane.
