Jirongo tragically passed away on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway on the morning of Saturday, December 13, when his luxury Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with a bus.
His body was later transferred to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, where family and friends gathered to pay their last respects.

On Sunday, December 14, mourners flocked to his home, where his three wives made their first public appearances since his passing.
It is worth noting that Jirongo had openly embraced polygamy. Earlier in the year, during the burial of his daughter, Lorraine Jelagat, he had admitted to having four wives.
The politician and Lorraine’s mother, Caroline, separated, and she found love again. Jirongo openly admitted that he was to blame for their separation, joking that “it was because of his big eyes wandering around.”
At the Sunday mourning session, Christine, one of his wives, addressed the guests, saying:
“We are all in shock and still processing the information. We are speechless. Thank you all for standing with us,” she said, also seeking clarity on the circumstances of Jirongo’s death.
Another wife, Anne Kanini, echoed Christine’s words and thanked the mourners for their unwavering support.
The other wife, also identified as Ann, expressed her grief while welcoming guests:
“The loss came so suddenly, the loss is heavy, but we also feel his love because he loved his family so much. As much as we feel the pain, we are comforted by the love that he showed us. We just want to thank you because it would be very heavy without your support.”

What did Jirongo’s family say about his death?
In a related story, Jirongo’s family questioned the official account of his fatal road accident.
They revealed that he had been returning home to Gigiri after leaving Karen late on Friday night, December 12. Police reports indicated that he was travelling towards Nairobi, contradicting the family’s account.
Family spokesperson Fred Gumo expressed concern over the unexplained circumstances surrounding the crash, urging for clarity on the events leading up to the tragedy.
