A small private jet has crashed in Central Mexico while attempting an emergency landing, killing at least seven people.

Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adrián Hernández confirmed the incident occurred on Monday, December 15, in San Mateo Atenco, an industrial area about five kilometres from Toluca Airport and 50 kilometres west of Mexico City.
According to ABC7 Los Angeles, the aircraft had departed from Acapulco on Mexico’s Pacific coast and was carrying eight passengers and two crew members.
Hours after the crash, authorities reported that seven bodies were recovered, with search and recovery operations still underway.
How did the plane crash in Central Mexico?
Hernández said the plane appeared to be trying to land on a soccer field but instead struck the metal roof of a nearby business, sparking a large fire.
According to the video circulating online, the building was engulfed in thick smoke as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, observed by onlookers.
San Mateo Atenco Mayor Ana Muñiz stated that the fire prompted the evacuation of approximately 130 people from the surrounding area as a precaution.
An eyewitness who witnessed the accident unfold claimed the plane ‘spun around like when a fan breaks loose.‘
“Then we heard the explosion, the truck even moved, and then we saw smoke coming out,” he said.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Panic as plane crashes on highway in Florida?
Elsewhere, a video showing a high-speed plane swerving through the sky before crashing into a car on a busy Florida highway triggered widespread panic.
The plane was reportedly attempting an emergency landing when it struck a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Brevard County during rush hour. The car’s owner, a 57-year-old woman from Melbourne, sustained injuries and was rushed to Viera Hospital.
The terrifying impact sent debris scattering across the highway, prompting eyewitnesses to scream and flee in shock as traffic came to a standstill.
Despite the severity of the crash, both the pilot and his passenger miraculously survived and were pulled from the wreckage without visible injuries.
