Truphena Muthoni is still the talk of the town, barely a week after completing her 72-hour tree-hugging marathon.

The 22-year-old undertook the challenge in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent hugging a tree non-stop.
Kenyans from all over the country celebrated the young woman from Nyeri county, praising her determination to fight for environmental conservation.
Although the Guinness World Records has yet to ratify her achievement, the young woman’s efforts have certainly not gone unnoticed within the country.
Did MKU award Truphena Muthoni scholarship?
On Wednesday, December 17, Truphena announced that Mount Kenya University (MKU) had awarded her an educational scholarship in recognition of her efforts in environmental conservation.
She expressed her joy and excitement about the future and the opportunity to further her education.
“I am sincerely thankful to Mount Kenya University and the MKU Foundation for the scholarship support. I am truly honoured to have my environmental initiative recognised. This opportunity motivates me to grow through education and create a positive impact. Thank you, MKU, for believing in me and investing in my future,” she posted on her social media pages.

What other gifts did Truphena Muthoni receive?
Following her three-day tree-hugging challenge, Truphena received numerous gifts, including KSh 1 million from a betting company, a plot of land, a high-end phone, and a fully paid trip to Dubai.
Furthermore, President Ruto awarded her the Head of State Commendation (HSC) medal and appointed her as an ambassador for the 15 billion tree planting campaign.
The President also announced that Truphena would enjoy a fully sponsored holiday experience provided by the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Kenya Tourism Board.
Additionally, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry has been tasked with supporting her dream of visiting Brazil, as part of the government’s efforts to broaden her exposure to global conservation initiatives and environmental leadership.

How did Truphena prepare for 3-day tree-hugging challenge?
TUKO.co.ke reported that the 22-year-old environmentalist said she did extensive training months before starting the marathon.
She walked for long hours to boost her stamina, sometimes covering up to 42 kilometres and also hugged trees for durations ranging from 35 hours to 60 hours while meditating to build endurance.
Truphena also ensured she was in good health before the challenge to prevent any unexpected health complications.
