Citizen TV anchor Immanuel Ndungu has opened up about his decision to leave the United Kingdom and move to Kenya for work.

Since joining the media station months ago, Immanuel has won the hearts of many viewers, with some women even openly declaring their admiration for him once he appeared on screen.

Why did Immanuel Ndungu relocate to Kenya?

After facing questions about his UK accent and why he left a developed country to pursue a career in a developing one, Immanuel addressed the topic on TikTok.

He explained that although he was born and raised in the UK, he relocated to Kenya in 2022 in pursuit of better opportunities.

While it might seem ironic that he moved to a developing country for career growth, Immanuel said he saw it as an advantage.

“Kenya is a developing country, so naturally, some things don’t work as well here as they would in the UK, which can be frustrating. But that also means the full potential of many industries is untapped. If you put yourself in there, you can really make an impact,” he said.

He also highlighted challenges in the UK, including high unemployment among youth in their fields of specialisation and the high cost of living.

“The UK isn’t all that. Sure, it’s easier to make money there, but in my experience, you are far more likely to find rewarding work in Kenya, make a real difference, and it’s basically summer every day,” he added.
