In an emotional post on Facebook, the former CS in the Water and Labour and Social Protection ministries took a trip down memory lane to when his daughter’s brightness started shining.
He shared that as the academic procession filled the Great Hall, his mind travelled back 19 years to when he dropped the then-kindergarten girl at Riara Springs.
Chelugui added that the girl made him proud eight years ago when she passed her KCPE exams and joined Moi High School Kabarak before completing secondary education at Alliance Girls’ High School.
Eleanor’s journey to graduation, her father recalled, was defined by resilience and focus. From their first visit to the University of Leeds, he watched her adapt to a new environment far from home, embracing the demands of academic life with determination.
What began as an unfamiliar chapter in a foreign country gradually became a formative experience that shaped her independence and confidence.
“You are an absolute star, and this milestone is richly deserved,” he wrote. “Even the heavy rains over Leeds seemed to mark your arrival at the table of academic excellence. What an incredible achievement, Toyoi. The future truly belongs to you.”
