Since Betty’s passing, the preacher has faced mounting pressure from the public, with many questioning why the children, Sky Victor and Danivictor, are still living with their stepfather, Tash, also known as Hiram Gitau.
Why has Kanyari not taken custody of his kids?
Despite not having the children stay with him full-time, Kanyari has maintained that he remains actively involved in their lives.

He has often been seen spending time with them, taking them out on dates and offering emotional support as they continue to cope with their mother’s death.
As weeks passed after Betty’s death and burial, speculation intensified, especially after her family publicly encouraged Kanyari to take the children in.
Some critics suggested that the delay was linked to alleged political ambitions ahead of the next elections.
However, while preaching during a recent church service, Kanyari dismissed the claims, insisting that politics has nothing to do with his decision.
“There are people saying I have not taken my children because I want a political seat. I do not want any seat. Do not elect me. I do not want it,” he told his congregation.
The outspoken preacher also hit back at social media users who have branded him a coward, questioning his willingness to assume full custody of his children.
“My children are right here in Kiambu. How can I be a coward when I know exactly where they are? If I wanted to take them, who would stop me? They are my children,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that in the previous week, he had announced that he would finally take custody.
Kanyari added that constant criticism from online users does little to affect him, claiming it only works in his favour despite their intention to bring him down.

“Is Baba ok? We need to check on him.”
Mscarol MK:
“Betty is wise. She found a partner for herself, but he didn’t assume the role of a father. Kanyari still remained the father in terms of providing and that’s the reason she was still organizing for the kids to spend time with their dad. To Betty, dad and partner were 2 different roles and they should remain as such even with her absence.”
