- A man from Tanzania separated from his wife over Christmas because of her behaviour in the kitchen, and he decided that enough was enough
- The middle-aged man had raised some money for meat, as it is a delicacy that they see once in a while within the fishing community, and he had really anticipated eating it
- Once the meat came to the table, things did not go as expected, and the man lashed out and then divorced his wife according to the Muslim way
Tanzania: A middle-aged man has stunned many people after divorcing his wife for tasting seven pieces of meat while she was still cooking it.
According to the man, he didn’t marry a woman from his tribe; he met his wife in town, and she comes from the Wamakonde tribe.
“Most of us people depend on the ocean and eat a lot of fish, so this time I had raised some money to buy meat, and as you know, it is during Christmas time when the prices of meat have gone up to KSh 12,000 for half a kilogram of meat,” he complained.

After he bought the meat, they cut it into 12 pieces together, but when it was served, they got five pieces of meat, even though there were six of them: the couple and their four children.
“How can you divide five pieces of meat among six people?” I asked her what happened. She told me she tasted seven pieces as she was cooking, which meant one of us was going to miss out. I ate the five pieces of meat with my kids and told her that enough was enough,” he said.
Why did some Tanzanians understand him?
A woman identified as Hidaya Wa IshaMi shared that the man knew it was not about tasting and that the woman may have taken the pieces of meat elsewhere.
“We cook meat and taste but not all of it; there is something that he is not saying in the media, but she took the pieces elsewhere,” she said.
