The tenant, known online as sir.ishmaelcherish, shared a distressing account of how a disagreement with the landlord escalated into an unexpected eviction that left his wife and young child stranded.
According to him, he moved into the house last year and had been discussing how to settle the deposit after the previous tenant allegedly left without being refunded.

“Hii ni plot nimehamia last year. He asked me about deposit of which I was to pay. Until mwenye alitoka hiyo hao akakam kunisho depo yake hakupewa,” he explained, saying he had asked the landlord to provide a written agreement to clarify the matter.
The situation took a frightening turn when, he claims, the landlord arrived with another man and a woman believed to be his partner, recently returned from Qatar.
“Jana he came na msichana wake from Qatar harassed me mbaya sana… wakanisho watakata mlango if I don’t pay deposit in full,” he recounted.
Hours later, his fears became reality when the landlord showed up at the apartment flanked by two other men carrying welding equipment.
The tenant shared a video showing two men aggressively dismantling the metallic door to his apartment, using tools to unhinge it before dragging it away.
The loud clang of metal echoed through the corridor as neighbours watched in disbelief.
Without a door and with tensions rising, the young family felt unsafe and had no choice but to leave. His wife and their small baby were forced to pack up and move out, a moment he described as heartbreaking and humiliating.
Online, Kenyans expressed outrage over the incident, calling it a violation of tenant rights and urging authorities to intervene.
Many pointed out that tenancy disputes should be handled legally through notices and due process—not intimidation or property destruction.
As the video continues to circulate, the family is now seeking help and hoping for justice, while also searching for a safe place to call home again.
Landlady embroiled in battle with tenant
In another incident, Nevena Khediri is a frustrated woman after the tenant who has been living in her house turned rogue.
The tenant not only owes her KSh 6.8 million in rent arrears but has also been piling mountains of garbage in her house.
When Nevena rented out her lovely five-bedroom home, it never occurred to her that it would be left in such a bad condition.
In desperation, Nevena began the process of having the tenant evicted, and she is now embroiled in a legal battle with the tenant from hell.
