A young woman identified as Gladys Kipyator has touched many hearts online with her performance in the just-released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), where she bagged an A-.

The KCSE results were released on Friday, January 9, and this time, the results, which had caused jitters among parents and their children, came from Eldoret in Uasin Gishu County.
While releasing the results, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba also shared simple steps for how the 2025 KCSE candidates can get their results through the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) online portal.
Why did the KNEC portal crash?
No sooner had the results come out than the KNEC portal experienced massive downtime as students and parents nationwide attempted to access the 2025 KCSE results. Hundreds of thousands of users who trooped to the portal overwhelmed the system despite having early activation, leading to unresponsiveness and frustration.
How did Kipyator perform in the best subjects? As per the results shown on the portal, Kipyator, who was at Metkei Girls High School managed a mean score of A- with her best subjects being Maths, English, Chemistry, and Geography, where she got A and three A-s.
Kiswahili and Physics came second as far as the scores were concerned, while Computer Studies is where she got a B+.

Concern as 357k students score D and below

Another story revealed that there is cause for concern, as in the 2025 KCSE results, 357,000 students who sat for KCSE scored D and below.
As the results were being announced, it emerged that nearly one million candidates sat for the exam across 10,765 institutions.
According to Ogamba about 2,000 students attained grade A, reflecting an improvement from 2024. He disclosed that 634,082 students achieved D+ and above, marking a positive trend in national performance.
