How Willian Ruto reacted to 2025 KCSE results
Ruto said the performance was satisfying, noting that over 50% of the candidates had secure university entry grades.
A total of 993,226 candidates wrote the 2025 KCSE between October 21 and November 21 across over 10,000 centres in the country.
Most importantly, the president noted that the high achievers were mostly female candidates.
“At Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County, briefed on the release of the 2025 KCSE Examinations to be released today. We are impressed that out of the 993,000 candidates, 50% of whom were girls, 270,000 attained C+ and above, securing a direct entry to university,” he said.
A total of 1,932 students attained straight A grades.
How 2025 KCSE examination was managed
The examination, alongside Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), was administered through a joint effort by the Ministries of Education and Interior, which deployed vast human and security resources to ensure integrity.
In total, 342,687 contracted staff, including centre managers, invigilators, supervisors, and ministry officers, were tasked with overseeing the three examinations.
The Ministry of Education acknowledged the challenge posed by counterfeit exam papers circulating online, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) undertaking arrests across the country.

The telecommunication giant unveiled a short-text code platform for the candidates to access their results.
To get the results, the candidates can text their index numbers to 20076, with each SMS charged at KSh 25.
