Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has noted that Kenyans are being pushed out of small-scale businesses by foreigners.

Gachagua was in Nairobi on Thursday, January 9, to popularise his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and his bid for presidency.
While addressing the public across the Marikiti, Muthurwa and Gikomba markets, Gachagua observed that the Chinese had dislodged the local traders and taken over small-scale businesses.
According to him, the foreigner ought to involve themselves in large-scale entreprises and leave the small ones to Kenyans.

He suggested that the local traders were being wiped out of their entreprises by competition from the Chinese.
“Kenyans have become poor because of the Chinese. They have made them go bankrupt. It is a big mistake to bring them to undertake all manner of businesses, including hawking and shops. Not that we don’t want them in the country, but they should engage in large-scale businesses and sell us products from factories,” he said.
