A Kenyan family is celebrating a double victory in the recently released 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, in which their twin daughters achieved perfect scores.

Fraternal twin sisters Michelle and Maureen Kerina scored 83 and 84 points, respectively, and were celebrated in their schools, Loreto and Alliance high schools, for their exemplary performance.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Maureen and Michelle disclosed that they supported each other in their final year of high school, despite having different study schedules and attending different schools.
“During the holidays, I was more of a night person and Maureen a morning person. But during the day, we would sit and do our assignments, and exchange ideas on what our different schools taught us,” Michelle said.
“Yes, we would support each other during the day. But whenever it was sleep, it was her time to study,” Maureen reiterated.
Though the twins expected to get As in their KCSE, they did not anticipate getting the perfect scores of 83 and 84 points.
“The A of 84 was a surprise. I was expecting to get an A, but not the perfect one. I am just so surprised,” Maureen stated.
Michelle echoed her sister’s statement, saying she hoped for an A, but her 83 points were a pleasant surprise.
Twin sisters thank parents for support
The sisters warmly thanked their parents for supporting them, saying they played key roles in shaping them to be the young, brilliant women they are today.
Michelle particularly highlighted her mum’s spirituality, which grounded and inspired her as she sat for the KCSE exams.
“The family would sit with us and talk and encourage us to work hard because of all the opportunities out there. They have instilled us with great spiritual values, as Michelle said, and all that helped us get the good grades,” Maureen said.
What courses are the A students considering?
Though the sisters harbour different career aspirations, they hope to be admitted to the University of Nairobi or any Ivy League university.
Maureen hopes to pursue aviation or architecture, while Michele hopes to do medicine.
“I believe there is an opportunity for female students to better themselves, especially in the aviation sector. There are very few female pilots in Kenya, and I want to be among those few,” Maureen said.
Nairobi father celebrates daughter’s performance
In other news, a Kenyan father celebrated his daughter’s exemplary performance in the 2025 KCSE.
Boni Manyala, a public communications professional, shared a proud Facebook post celebrating his daughter’s stellar performance after she earned an impressive B+ in the 2025 KCSE.
Manyala noted that his daughter’s amazing performance in the exam now paves the way for her to pursue her dream career, law.
