Parents and students of Nyambaria High School are up in arms over what they describe as “inconsistent, unfair, and unreflective” KCSE 2025 results.

In a strongly worded statement, they called for a full verification of answer scripts by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Class Representative Benard Onkware Michieka told TUKO.co.ke that 1,034 parents and their candidates rejected, insisting that the grades awarded do not match the students’ classroom performance.
Nyambaria High School, a national institution known for its high-achieving cohorts, has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence.
The school topped the country in the 2021 KCSE examinations and has consistently admitted some of Kenya’s best-performing KCPE pupils over the years.
According to the parents, this background makes the 2025 results unusually “inconsistent and difficult to justify.”
How did Nyambaria perform in KCSE 2025?
In the recently-released results, the school had zero As, 21 A-minus, 99 B-plus, 285 plain B, and 306 B-minus, earning a mean score of 8.06.
Michieka said internal assessments, mock exams, and classroom performance painted a very different picture from what was released by KNEC.
“These results do not reflect the true performance of our candidates,” he said. “Many students were awarded grades that do not align with their responses. We suspect errors or irregularities in the marking process.”
The parents are demanding that KNEC produce the original answer scripts for all Nyambaria candidates and allow an open comparison between the answers written and the grades awarded.
They insist that this exercise should be carried out transparently and in the presence of relevant stakeholders, including school representatives and parents.

According to them, the stakes are too high to ignore potential discrepancies as KCSE grades determine university admissions, scholarship opportunities, and long-term career paths.
Any mistake, they say, could alter the course of a student’s life permanently, emphasising that their demand is not confrontational but rooted in fairness and the need for accountability.
“This request is made in good faith,” the statement reads. “We are committed to pursuing this matter through lawful and institutional channels until clarity and justice are achieved.”
As the parents await an official response from KNEC, tension remains high among candidates whose university hopes and career dreams now hang in the balance.
