The clip shared by United24 Media showed a Russian serviceman strapping a landmine to an African mercenary’s chest and ordering him to run through no man’s land as a human bomb to target Ukrainian fortifications.
A widely shared video seen by TUKO.co.ke purporting to show preparation for the attack shows the Black mercenary being marched through a trench at gunpoint and being ordered to storm Ukrainian positions.

In the video, a Russian uses racist insults, telling the recruit, who said his name is Francis, that he is being used as a “can opener” to blow himself up to “open” an enemy bunker.
Another related video, published on Sunday, January 11, showed a group of new African mercenaries in a snow-covered forest singing songs in their own language.
A Russian soldier filming a group of upbeat troops mocks their morale, saying they’ll “be singing differently” once they reach the front lines, and notes the number of “disposables”.
A Moscow operation has lured thousands of Africans, including Kenyans, to the front lines with false pretences or promises of high salaries to offset heavy Russian casualties.
The videos emerged as Ukraine’s ambassador to South Africa claimed that Russia was using Africans as “meat for the meat grinder” by tricking them into joining the war in Ukraine.
In an interview, Olexander Scherba said most Africans who are lured by Russia only become meat for the grinder.
“There might be all kinds of charm offensives on the African continent, but once an African person comes to this war, they just become meat for the meat grinder,” Scherba said.
