Earlier, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced a three-week traffic disruption along Ngong Road near the Junction Mall area.

KURA announced nightly traffic diversions, excluding Sundays, from 8pm to 5am between Nairobi City County Training School and Kenya Science Campus.

These diversions were to facilitate two-way traffic flow within the affected area due to the construction of a steel structure for the ongoing flyover construction.

Following rejection of its development report for failing to meet affordability and public interest requirements, the 419-kilometre toll road project was reverted to the feasibility study stage, according to the PPP Directorate.

This presented a renewed opportunity for Everstrong Capital to potentially implement one of the continent’s largest PPP projects.

During its 54th ordinary meeting on July 2, 2025, the National Treasury’s PPP Committee denied Everstrong’s request to engage the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) and advance the project to the commercial stage.

The committee found that the proposal did not meet the criteria outlined in Section 43(1)(c) of the PPP Act, 2021.
