What led to the fatal beating of Charlene Nyangweso?
Charlene’s biological mum, Pamela Sande, revealed that she was married to Omeno for 14 years before their marriage ended and going their separate ways. After the separation, Charlene was placed in the father’s custody.
On Friday, December 26, Charlene went to visit Sande and stayed with her until Wednesday, December 31, when Omeno reportedly came to take her back following a quarrel.
What happened after the teenager returned to her father’s home has left the family shattered and the community in shock.
According to preliminary reports, Omeno began caning the girl as punishment for visiting her mother, a beating that allegedly escalated and turned fatal.
Sande recalled her last conversation with her daughter, revealing that Charlene confessed to being beaten by her dad.
“When I called, it was the stepmother who answered the phone. The child then told me that her father had beaten her. She said, “Mum, Dad has beaten me, but please come for me tomorrow morning.”,” Sande stated, a call that now haunts her.

How did Omeno handle aftermath of beating Charlene?
That night, following the beating, Charlene reportedly collapsed and instead of seeking immediate help, Omeno is accused of taking the unconscious girl to Mama Lucy Hospital, dumping her body there.
The grieving mother said she was summoned to the hospital under alarming circumstances by Omeno, who knew their daughter’s condition was precarious.
Sande narrated that Omeno made sure she had arrived at the hospital before going dark, never to be seen again.
“The child’s father called me on the first, at about one o’clock, and told me to come. He said we should meet at Mama Lucy Hospital because the child was in a bad condition, and that even the doctors had said the situation was serious. I rushed there.
When I arrived at Mama Lucy, we were still speaking and he was still telling me we would meet. But once I got there, his phone cut off and was switched off. Up to today, his phone has never gone through again,” Sande explained.

What do autopsy findings reveal about Charlene’s death?
A crucial witness in the case, Omeno’s current wife, Sheila Odhiambo, has spoken out, insisting the incident was not intentional.
“I cannot say that it was something done intentionally. It was a case of someone disciplining a child and, unfortunately, it went wrong. It was an accident, not something anyone intended,” said Sheila.

Despite Sheila’s claims, troubling questions have emerged, deepening the family’s pain and questions on what happened when Omeno ‘punished’ Charlene.
When Sande first saw her daughter’s body at the morgue, she noticed injuries that went beyond a beating, revealing what looked like torture.
An autopsy report confirmed that Charlene died from traumatic injuries to the head, chest, and other parts of the body, findings that affirm the assault was fatal.
“Her head was swollen at the back, and there was blood here on her forehead between the eyes. Her hands were swollen, and it looked as if she had been tied with a rope, there were marks on her wrists. Even on the legs, it appeared she had been tied with a rope. One side had been untied, but the rope was still left on the other side,” Sanded painfully recounted.
