The speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania announced the sad news.
Where Halima Idd Nassor die?
Halima passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam, where she was receiving treatment.

“With deep sorrow, I announce the death of Special Seats MP Hon. Halima Idd Nassor, which occurred today, January 18, 2026, in Dar es Salaam. I extend my condolences to all honourable members of Parliament, the family of the deceased, relatives, friends, and loved ones. May the Almighty grant them strength, patience, and endurance during this difficult time,” said the speaker.

When will Halima Idd Nassor be buried?
A statement issued by @bunge_tz said that the Parliament, in collaboration with the family of the late legislator, is coordinating her burial arrangements.
The legislature will be buried on Sunday, January 18, within 24 hours after his passing, as per the Islamic tradition.
“The Office of Parliament informs the public that the burial of the late Special Seats Member of Parliament, Hon. Halima Idd Nassor, will take place today, Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 10:00 pm at Kibada Kwa Dole Cemetery, Kigamboni, in Dar es Salaam.”

Ghanaian MP dies after short illness
In other news, popular National Democratic Congress (NDC) politician Naser Toure Mahama died a few days ago.
The MP, who was serving his fourth term since being first elected in 2013, died on January 4, leaving both his family and colleagues in shock.
He was the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East in Greater Accra, Ghana.

His contributions to the House, his advocacy for development projects, and his tireless efforts to improve the lives of the people he represented will be remembered. He embodied the ethos of service and the spirit of philanthropy that are the hallmarks of public service.
According to Ghanaian media, the Ayawaso East MP, popularly known as Mac Naza, died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a period of illness.
