Pennsylvania – The family of the late Victoria Njeri Njoroge is pleading for urgent support to bring her body back to Kenya for burial.

According to a GoFundMe page created by her sister, Mariam Njoroge, the United States, a place she once hoped would offer opportunity, became instead a place of profound struggle and heartbreak.
Why Njeri’s family want to bury her in Kenya
In a heartfelt appeal, her sister Mariam said the family’s greatest wish is to lay Vicky to rest on home soil, surrounded by the people and the land she loved.
“Vicky was an endlessly optimistic person who always wore a smile no matter what. She was loved dearly by everyone she knew, and she will be remembered as a daughter, a sister, a mother to two, but most importantly as a ray of joy and perseverance,” she said.
Despite her hopes for a better life abroad, Vicky faced hardship after hardship. Family members say that the emotional toll of separation from her son and the relentless obstacles she encountered in the US weighed heavily on her spirit.
The cruel timing of her accident, just when she was close to reuniting with her son, has deepened the family’s grief.
How much does Njeri’s family need?
Mariam says the family cannot bear the thought of Vicky’s final resting place being in a country that brought her so much pain.
However, the cost of repatriating a body across continents is extremely high, and time is limited, which explains why their target is £11,000 (approximately KSh 1.9 million).
“It’s very expensive to transport a body internationally and we don’t have a lot of time, so any help from anyone is monumental,” she said.

How much has been raised?
As of the time filing this report, the GoFundMe fundraiser had raised £6,338 (approximately KSh 1.1 million).
Their mother is currently travelling to the United States to oversee arrangements, and all funds raised will be sent directly to her to facilitate the process.
The family is appealing to friends, well-wishers, and the wider community to support them during this difficult moment.
“Thank you all,” Mariam added, emphasising that every contribution, no matter the amount, brings them closer to honouring Vicky’s final journey home.
How did Victoria Njeri die?
Vicky, as she was fondly known, died in a tragic road accident involving a truck in Tunkhannock on Sunday, January 11.
The incident occurred just as she was nearing the long-awaited reunion with her son, whom she had spent years trying to bring from Kenya.
Vicky, remembered as a pillar of strength and positivity, leaves behind her two children, Raymond and Dorothy, whom she cherished dearly.
