Langata, Kenya: Fortunes have turned around for a Grade 10 boy who had almost given up on joining Kisumu Boys’ High School after his dad, who had promised to pay for his fees, fell ill.

It emerged that just three weeks ago, Ryan Omondi Owino’s dad had made a solemn promise to accompany him to Kisumu Boys, but he fell critically ill and was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU).
“He was admitted to the ICU at Kenyatta National Hospital. Ryan’s mother used all the family’s savings, including his school fees, to pay for the hospital bills. Thanks to God, I have sent him to school where he will study very well,” Eric Omondi said on Facebook.

In a video shared by Omondi, the young boy and his mother are seen praying by his father’s hospital bedside at KNH, and Kenyans felt sorry for the family.

Kenyans from all walks of life started raising money for the family, and Owino has since reported to school. In the video, Omondi and Owino are seen carrying mattresses, a big box, and other requirements.
Omondi was a student at Kisumu Boys High School, and he looked happy to be back at his alma mater, with the community happy to welcome him back to the school.

Needy lad fails to join Maseno School
