In a subsequent update, he revealed he had been taken to the Muthaiga Police Station.
The MP would then link President William Ruto and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to his tribulations.
“Someone tell Murkomen and William Ruto that we shall not be intimidated,” he posted.
This came weeks after detectives announced they were looking for Kibagendi after CCTV footage emerged showing him allegedly assaulting a man inside a restaurant in Kisii town.
What did Anthony Kibagendi do?
According to the investigators, the legislator went missing since the assault was reported, with detectives urging him to appear for questioning as the probe gathers pace.
Senior Kisii security officials identified the MP as the prime suspect in a case filed on Thursday, November 27, 2025, by 36‑year‑old Astariko Enock Omariba Moriasi.
Investigators noted that Kibagendi could voluntarily surrender to expedite the process.
The victim, seen in a viral video being repeatedly struck, told police he was attacked while having breakfast.
Omariba recounted that he was seated alone when a man entered and sat opposite him, shortly before Kibagendi walked in and approached his table.

Why did Kibagendi attack Omariba?
Omariba later informed police that the MP confronted him over allegedly meddling in his private affairs shortly before the assault.
He recounted that the legislator stormed in directly at him, shouting that he must show respect and stay away from his girlfriend.
Omariba added that he sustained injuries during the attack and insisted the confrontation was rooted in a personal dispute involving a love triangle.
The defence team expressed frustration with the slow progress of the inquiry, stressing that the complaint was lodged promptly and supported by medical records.
