Muhoozi’s posts sparked outrage after he openly called for the killing of National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine and mocked Kenyans.
The now-deleted posts, shared on X in the tense aftermath of Uganda’s disputed 2026 General Election, included explicit death threats against supporters of the NUP.

Muhoozi’s online tirade came after Museveni was declared the winner of the presidential race with 71.6% of the vote, securing an eighth term in office.
His closest challenger, Bobi Wine, finished second with 24% of the vote, according to official results that have been widely criticised.
How did Muhoozi spark online uproar?
As post-election tensions escalated, Muhoozi turned to X with a barrage of violent statements, claiming that security forces had killed dozens of opposition supporters before expressing dissatisfaction with the number.
“Personally, I’m embarrassed by our record. 22 killed in one week is too low. I promise to do better,” the young Museveni wrote.
In other posts, the army commander directly targeted Bobi Wine and his party, vowing to eliminate NUP supporters and issuing what he described as a personal ultimatum to the opposition leader.
“We will kill on sight all NUP so-called ‘Foot Soldiers’. Until Mzee says otherwise. We have killed 22 NUP terrorists since last week. I’m praying the 23rd is Kabobi,” he wrote, using the derogatory nickname for Bobi Wine.

Muhoozi’s also triggered backlash in Kenya after he branded Kenyans cowards and accused them of being loud on social media but weak in real-world confrontations.
“I have found that some Kenyans like to talk a lot but run the fastest when kibokos start,” he wrote in another post that has since been removed.
The comments angered many Kenyans, especially as a section of Kenyan leaders and citizens had openly followed Uganda’s election and expressed support for Bobi Wine.
Online, Kenyans accused the Ugandan army chief of being obsessed with Kenya and unnecessarily dragging the country into Uganda’s internal political struggles.
Despite the deletion of the posts, the damage had already been done with screenshots circulating widely online.

“You’re excited as if it’s your first time seeing his tweets. FYI he always deletes useless tweets because he knows they’re and he’ll come back again and will tweet the same. Idk why you people are easily rage baited. Take time and check his timeline and see tweets about Beyonce, sijui Ayra star, he will always delete those tweets. Get sth meaningful to tweet about other than Muhoozi’s tweets.”
