Comedian Eric Omondi has mobilised Kenyans to rally behind ailing barber Kitiki Sam, who is battling a rare and life-threatening cancer.

Kitiki is currently undergoing treatment for gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST), a rare form of cancer that affects the digestive system. The condition has weakened him, leading to severe weight loss and reduced mobility.

Determined to help, Eric took to his social media platforms to call on Kenyans to gather at Uhuru Park and raise funds for Kitiki’s treatment.
On Saturday, January 24, the comedian shared a video showing himself and the ailing barber arriving in Nairobi by plane, revealing plans to hold a major fundraiser the following day.
“We got to Nairobi safe… Uhuru Park is ready for us tomorrow. We are calling upon Kenyans, leaders and celebrities to come out in large numbers, especially barbers and salonists. For those who are far or may not make it, you can keep sending whatever you can,” Eric wrote, sharing Kitiki’s donation details.

True to his word, Eric showed up at Uhuru Park on Sunday, January 25, where preparations were already underway, with a makeshift barbershop set up to offer haircuts as part of the fundraising drive.
Kitiki, who arrived in a wheelchair, was assisted to the podium, where a seat had been prepared for him.
Several people were seen lining up for haircuts, while others made direct monetary contributions in support of his treatment. Kitiki also got a haircut.

The initiative touched many fans, who flooded the comment sections with messages of encouragement, prayers, and appreciation for Eric’s compassionate gesture.

Did friends abandon Kitiki Sam?
Previously, Kitiki lamented about being abandoned by friends after becoming sick.

He admitted that the hardest part of his battle has not only been the illness itself but also the loneliness that came after his friends distanced themselves.
He also addressed those who abandoned him at his lowest moment, saying he holds no grudge against them.
