Did KPLC introduce new meter reading technology?

Meanwhile, KPLC introduced a new meter reading technology, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system, which aims at improving billing accuracy, speeding up data collection and eliminating errors associated with manual entry.

OCR allows meter readers to scan meter displays which automatically captures and processes readings with greater precision.

Commercial Cycle Manager Richard Wida noted that the automated scanning reduces meter reading time and curbs inaccuracies that often emerge when readings are keyed in manually.
