Moses Motwaro, a 36-year-old man from Nairobi, is happy as his dreams and career are finally taking shape following years of joblessness.

Motwaro excelled in his academics, scoring an impressive A minus in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), which earned him a spot at the University of Nairobi.
During his time at university, he dedicated himself to his studies, and after four years, he graduated with a first-class honours degree in economics.

The young man publicly appealed for help to secure employment. He reached out to Nairobi county official, Geoffrey Mosiria, who helped share his plight with potential employers.

Fortunately, weeks later, ICS Technical College in Nairobi’s CBD reached out to the 36-year-old man and offered him a job.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Motwaro expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who helped him secure employment after years of hardship.
He has been employed as an internal auditor in the finance department, a role he now holds dear.
“I officially started working on Monday, 26th January 2026, as an Internal Auditor at ICS Technical College here in the CBD. I feel truly relieved to be done with the hustle and bustle of job hunting. I’m especially grateful to Geoffrey Mosiria, my campus mate and friend, who came through and connected me to ICS,” he said.
The 36-year-old man noted that he has joined a very competent team at the college, which upholds high levels of professionalism and decorum.
He also expressed his gratitude to the institution for making his transition and orientation smooth and encouraging.
“I look forward to working with this highly regarded institution alongside qualified staff, and I’m committed to growing my skills and achieving my career goals while I’m here,” he added.
Why was Moses Motwaro unemployed?
Motwaro graduated in 2016, hoping to find a job with his papers full of nothing but excellence. However, life handed him a bitter pill to swallow.
He hunted for jobs both within and outside Nairobi, walking around with his brown envelope full of documents, but to no avail.
He even resorted to doing menial jobs just to make ends meet, as going back home was not an option for him.
On a few occasions, he got better opportunities, but they were short-term contracts, which always led him back to the streets, seeking employment once more.
Moreover, the young man shared that during that phase, his qualifications acted as a curse rather than a stepping stone, as they often hindered his job prospects.
He recalled the many times potential employers turned him away, claiming he was overqualified due to his degree, leaving him confused and frustrated.

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that Kelvin, a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) graduate, had been struggling to find permanent employment.
The young man resorted to taking locum jobs, which his mother, Wanjiru, said came infrequently, before he eventually found work as a tout.
Wanjiru stated that she would not let her son sink into depression under her watch and appealed to the local government and well-wishers for help, fearing for her son’s mental health.
