A family in Mlolongo, Machakos county, is left devastated following the tragic deaths of three children.

The three minors, identified as Adrian Ochieng (4), Kyla Ann (1), and Keilah Kerubo (1), were allegedly poisoned by their mother, Linet Munala.
It is said that the mother, who is a trained pharmacist, laced their food with poison on Monday, January 26, before fleeing the scene.

Visibly shaken and overcome with grief, he opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. Instead, he collapsed into tears, letting out loud cries of sorrow.
He covered his eyes with his hands in an attempt to suppress the wails, but the pain was too overwhelming, leaving those around him deeply moved.
Unable to speak further, a relative stepped forward to address the press on his behalf.
“The children’s father was at work when he called me and said his children were all dead. I tried questioning him about what happened, but he also did not know or understand why his wife decided to commit such a terrible act,” said Peter Masese.
Alex’s close friend, Albert Okore, shared that he was the first person to be informed about the devastating incident over the phone.
He stated that they were still in shock, especially after seeing chilling pictures of the incident scene. He added that some of them could not even sleep peacefully.
How did Alex Oyieyo’s family react to tragedy?
The heartbroken man’s family acknowledged that the couple had been experiencing marital problems and had engaged the elders to help reconcile them just a few days before the tragedy.
Munala reportedly confessed to her friend about killing the children before going into hiding.
“I want to plead with the government to get to the root of the matter so we can understand what led this woman to commit such a horrific act. This will be a lesson to other couples or anyone thinking of doing the same,” said Masese.
Despite going into hiding, Munala was arrested, and the bodies of the minors were taken to the Nairobi Funeral Home.
She was arraigned at Athi River Law Courts, where police were granted 14 days to hold her to allow for further investigations.
A post-mortem examination conducted at the mortuary confirmed that the three children died as a result of poisoning. However, more samples were sent to the government chemist for toxicological analysis.
“We already know the children were poisoned, but we are yet to know the type of poison she used,” added the relative.
