A family from Muhara in Gatundu South, Kiambu county, has been left in shock and confusion after unknown people invaded their kin’s grave and uprooted the cross over suspected witchcraft activities.

According to the family, the individuals violated the deceased’s grave two nights ago and left the cross at the entrance of her home, shocking her husband, who woke up to a bizarre scene.

The deceased’s husband, identified as Kuria, narrated that his wife died in 2024, but for a second time this year, he had woken up to find her grave desecrated and used for what he believes is witchcraft.

” My wife Beatrice suffered an illness, then died. I do not understand why someone keeps taking away the cross from her grave, and after using it, they bring it to the entrance of our home. It is shocking and disturbing all the same time,” he told Kikuyu Star TV.

Kuria said the first incident happened a few weeks ago, and he took the cross back to his wife’s grave, but in this fresh incident, he decided he would not return it.

“I made the tough decision to burn the cross this time around because I think what the people behind this want to ruin my family. I did not take the cross back to the grave but instead burned it. I hope this keeps those people away from my wife’s grave,” he said.

He said he found the cross dipped in a strange black pot, and in it were inner and baby clothes, which were dirty.

“This is all because there are people who are jealous of my family. They do not want us to progress. I believe those behind it are just from around this community,” Kuria stated.

The widower noted that his home CCTV captured three mysterious women going to his wife’s grave at night and uprooting the cross.

He narrated that they had covered themselves while doing the bizarre act at night.

The father admitted the incident had left him spooked and instilled a belief in him about the existence of witchcraft.

In other news, an Embu family was also left in shock after waking up to find a grave dug in their compound by unknown individuals.

The frightened family members called the police hastily after waking up to the bizarre scene, which they said was meant to spook them.

The members said they did not have any enemies in the village who had a reason to target them.
