The bodies of the three deceased Kenyan nationals were found dumped in the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine identified the trio as Ombwori Denis Bagaka, born on January 30, 1987, and Wahome Simon Gititu, born on May 21, 1991.
They were found at the same spot where another Kenyan, Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, was killed a week ago.
How did the 3 Kenyans find themselves in Ukraine?
Bagaka and Mogesa reportedly arrived in Russia and entered the Yaroslavl recruitment centre in September 2025, while Gatitu joined them a month later.

According to the Ukrainian detectives, the three Kenyans were lured into joining the Russian military by an agent identified as Salizhan Uulu Almamet.
It is Almamet who negotiated and signed contracts for Bagaka, Mogesa, and Gatitu. The contracts were written in the Russian language, making it difficult for the trio to understand what exactly was on paper.
The Russian agent is also reported to have gained direct control over the bank accounts of the three Kenyan recruits.
The recruited Kenyan citizens were transported from Yaroslavl to the Pogonovo training ground near Voronezh, specifically to military unit No. 11097, according to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence.
Pogonovo training ground is where the Russian military uses foreign recruits to launch its attack on the Ukrainian territory.
According to reports, President Vladimir Putin’s army works with mercenaries to recruit foreigners, prisoners, drug addicts, and captured deserters and assemble them into training camps.
The training takes a maximum of four weeks, and the recruits are deployed on a one-way combat mission in Ukraine.
In the case of Bagaka, Gititu, and Mogesa, they were sent to Donbas to attack the city of Lyman, where they were unfortunately killed and abandoned by their comrades from Russia.
