Abungana passed away on Wednesday, February 4, while receiving treatment at Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The promising footballer tragically died following a family dispute with his younger brother, who allegedly attacked him, leaving him with serious injuries.

How did Silas Abungana’s girlfriend mourn him?

Taking to her Facebook page, Abungana’s partner shared her immense pain, asking God why she had to lose the love of her life so soon.

She posted an image of them together, noting that their child would grow up without a father and asking his spirit to avenge his death.

“The man I loved with all my heart, God, this is too soon. Why punish me this way? Sila, this is too early, my darling, my husband. Why take an innocent soul? You all decided I should tell my child his father is dead. Why kill your own blood? Sila, don’t sleep. I’ve just become a widow at this young age,” she shared.

Kakamega Homeboyz player’s WhatsApp chats with girlfriend

In a separate post, the grieving woman shared a screenshot of one of her recent conversations with Abungana.

She explained how she used to advise him and pray for the day they would live peacefully despite the challenges they faced.

In the chat, the footballer asked her to tell him something before he retired to bed. She encouraged him to keep working hard and focus on his football career, adding that the future would be bright for both of them.

“All I can say is that I love you and I pray for you every day, so that things may work out in your favour. I want us to live a peaceful life, so please forget about the things happening at home. Leave all that at the gate when you’re on the field playing. Don’t stress yourself with things you cannot change,” read one of her texts.

In his response, the footballer thanked his lover, expressing his trust and belief in her before wishing her a lovely night.

The texts from the night of January 17 left social media users heartbroken, as many offered words of comfort to the young woman in the comments section.

What happened between Abungana and his brother?

In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Abungana was attacked by his brother, who struck him on the head with a club.

The two reportedly clashed after Abungana cut the electricity cable to his younger brother’s house leading to a fight between them.

According to their father, Chiroi Abungana, this occurred after the 21-year-old brother, who is now at large, refused to lend Abungana’s girlfriend a jiko to use.
