The video, which has since gone viral, captured the teacher, Elly Mtesi, entering the class to his students singing Manchester United’s anthem of ‘Glory Glory Man United’. At the time of writing, it had already crossed 2 million views on TikTok.
Mtesi, who was dressed in United’s third kit, responded by leading the students in a chant, borrowing from Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s now-famous catchphrase of ‘fire si fire’. The teacher also did the Cunha dance celebration.
The video gained further traction after it was reshared by Fabrizio Romano with Cunha among the people who commented. The Brazilian forward dropped love emojis, seemingly impressed by the video.
Manchester United form
The Red Devils continued with their brilliant start to life under Michael Carrick after they ended their winless run of eight games against Tottenham Hotspur, to beat them 2-0 in the Saturday early kickoff.
Christian Romero was sent off for a reckless challenge on Casemiro, forcing Spurs to play with 10 men for the better part of the game.
Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes took Carrick to a fourth consecutive win since he took over on interim capacity.
The win came after other wins over Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham, taking United into the top four again with 44 points, 12 behind leaders Arsenal, who beat Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday evening.
“We looked dangerous, right from the start of the game, which was really pleasing again. We had a few issues, and I thought Tottenham played really good football in the first half, and we had to solve a few things. Then, going a goal up, against 10 men in the second half, we managed it really well,” said Carrick to TNT Sports via United’s website after the game.
