In a recent interview on Radio Maisha, Nyota explained that achieving success early in her career allowed her to make smart financial decisions.

Coming from a family where her father was also a musician, she knew that fame and wealth could be fleeting.

“I knew that a time would come and another generation would emerge. I knew that I would not be big forever, so I made good plans. There came a time when my father was no longer recognised even when he walked on the road. I learned that another generation would eventually surpass us,” she said.

Nyota went on to list some of the assets she has acquired through her music career, including her current house, a tuk-tuk, five motorcycles, and a plot of land.

“I can say that these things are the blessings of music. I used my name well,” she explained.

She also shared that owning her own house was always a top priority, citing its importance for herself and her children.

“If the power in my house were cut off today, nobody would notice. If my water were cut off, nobody would notice. But if I were chased out to the streets, people would see. A house is very important, which is why I always desired to have somewhere for my kids,” Nyota added.
