Edwin Sifuna has finally spoken out after his dramatic removal as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary general on Wednesday, February 11.

The Nairobi senator took to social media, thanking supporters and confirming he will address the press.
“Following yesterday’s events, i have been overwhelmed by the messages of support and encouragement. I will speak to the press this morning to address some of your concerns. Ahsanteni sana. God bless,” Sifuna wrote.
The post has since attracted thousands of reactions, comments, and shares, with supporters expressing solidarity and urging him to stay firm amid the political storm.
Details of Sifuna’s sudden removal in Mombasa
Sifuna was removed from his position during a tense National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Mombasa and chaired by party leader Oburu Oginga.
The NEC announced that Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo would serve as acting secretary general until a substantive replacement is elected.
The party cited concerns over discipline and adherence to collective decisions. However, the decision reportedly split the NEC, with four members said to have voted against his removal.
Among those who opposed the move were Vice Chairman Otiende Amollo, Treasurer Timothy Bosire, Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, and another member identified as Mike.
Sources indicate that the dissenting members pushed for Sifuna to be granted an opportunity to defend himself before a final decision was made. The matter was eventually settled through a vote, where the majority supported his ouster.
Will Sifuna move to court to challenge his ODM ouster?
In a related development, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has claimed that Sifuna is preparing to challenge the decision in court.
In a strongly worded social media post, Alai insisted the party leadership was ready for any legal contest and maintained that the decision had been properly considered.
Meanwhile, ODM signalled plans to formally exit the Azimio La Umoja coalition. The move is expected to be ratified at the upcoming National Delegates Convention (NDC) scheduled for March 26.

Is Edwin Sifuna planning a rally after his ODM ouster?
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that Sifuna announced a major political rally set for Sunday, February 15, in Kitengela, Kajiado county.
The Nairobi senator shared the news on his social media platforms, inviting supporters to join him for what promises to be a significant public engagement.
The meeting will mark his first major political event in recent days and is expected to attract a section of ODM leaders who have taken a different political path from the party’s mainstream direction.
Among those anticipated at the rally are Siaya governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi.
