Just over a year ago, Merinyo was earning a modest income at a local firm, working long hours while quietly nursing bigger ambitions in the food and livestock sector.
How Joshua got Germany connection
Daktari Kelvin Kipchirchir Ufa told TUKO.co.ke that like many young Kenyans striving to break through, he had the skills and the drive but lacked access to opportunity.

That opportunity came through what he fondly describes as a “destiny helper”. A chance meeting that introduced him to an organisation facilitating international traineeships for young Kenyans in Europe.
“I didn’t imagine that one conversation would change my life,” Merinyo recalls. “I was simply looking for guidance. Instead, I found a door opening.”
Within months, he secured a traineeship placement in Germany, Europe’s industrial powerhouse and an emerging hub for food science innovation.
How Germany job changed Joshua’s life
Today, the middle-aged man lives and works in Germany, earning a competitive salary while gaining hands-on experience in advanced food processing systems.
The transition, however, was far from seamless. Moving from the familiarity of Kitengela to a new country meant adjusting to a different language, culture and professional environment.
There were moments of doubt, cultural surprises and the quiet loneliness that often accompanies migration. But resilience, faith and determination carried him through.
Before leaving Kenya, Merinyo had served as Youth and Social Inclusion Officer at FIPS AFRICA, where he championed agribusiness awareness across six counties.
The role deepened his understanding of youth empowerment and prepared him mentally for a global stage.

What job does Joshua do in Germany?
Now in Germany, he works in modern processing facilities, learning cutting-edge techniques in food safety and livestock value chains, exposure that has broadened both his professional expertise and his long-term vision.
“I want other young people back home to know that it’s possible,” he says. “Your background does not limit your future. Sometimes, all you need is one person to believe in you and connect you to the right opportunity.”
His journey from a local office in Kitengela to a well-paying position in Germany stands as a powerful testament to mentorship, networking and perseverance.
For many Kenyan youth watching from afar, Merinyo’s story offers something priceless: proof that global doors can open, even when hope feels distant.
As international traineeship programmes continue to expand, more young Kenyans may yet follow in his footsteps, transforming not only their own futures, but the prospects of their communities back home.
