Speaking to Webnation Africa, the middle-aged African-American man shared that he owns properties in other countries near beaches and mountains. He also teaches generational wealth in physical health, finances, spiritual journey, healthy living, and family unity, but he was looking for something deeper.
“I had accomplished all that, but there was still something missing. I was looking for something deeper and found it here,” he said.
Booker came to Kenya on an assignment with a non-governmental organization and went to work in Machakos County. While there, he knew that he wanted to settle in the country, but he had other things to wrap up at home before he could return.

“I have a cousin, and she has spent her career empowering disadvantaged people; she sits on the board of many nonprofits, and one of them is Safari Life Foundation, which supports about eight or nine NGOs. She has been telling me to come, and last year I came to participate, and that experience changed my life,” he said.
“In Machakos County, something happened, and I knew I should be here. I was to stay for only two weeks but ended up extending to five weeks. So I went home and redesigned my life in a way that allowed me to be here,” he said.

Why did Booker fall in love with Kenya?
Booker, who runs a successful business, has money invested in the stock market, commodities, crypto, coffee, and tea so that they can give him passive income to live comfortably in the future.
When he came to Kenya, the businessman was greatly impressed by the diversity of people and found them to be bright, entrepreneurial, and well educated, having lived in London, Kenya, and the USA; they were truly global citizens.
“The intellectual capital, energy, and youthfulness were surprising to me,” he said.
“Nairobi is the jewel of Africa from a business perspective; the quality of lifestyle and level of development in Africa make me feel that they align with me. There is energy but no stress, so I’m able to think more clearly. The moment I wake up, I begin to digest my strategy; I always feel rushed in the US, and I’m just as effective,” he added.
It has also been an easier transition period for Booker because the food and culture are similar to a lot of the food and customs of Black Americans. He also did not have any language problems, as English is a primary language in the country.
“The people are so engaging. I was here less than 30 days, and I cannot tell you the connections I have made with like-minded people. There is no sense of isolation,” he said.

When Booker landed in Kenya, he found a two-bedroom apartment that cost KSh 258,000 per month.
“It was very exclusive and had all the finishing and trimmings, but I wanted a more private area. The reason I chose Lavington in Nairobi was that I wanted something that was walkable; I wanted a suburban but urban lifestyle,” he said.
Just how beautiful and Africentric is Booker’s house?
In Lavington, Booker lives in a KSh 450,000 five-bedroom English stone house. One of the things one notices when entering the well-laid compound is that the driveway is creatively made using well-laid-out cut stones and not cabro, as many houses have these days.
From outside, the house looks majestic thanks to the stones that were used to make it and the finishing, which has smoother walls at the bottom, creating a beautiful contrast.
When Booker opened his majestic double doors, they led to a beautiful hallway done in cream, with Afrocentric art, a half bath, and a social media room.

“We have a social media storytelling room; here we do storytelling for product launches. We are also working on AI technology and are kicking off something called the Nairobi Accelerator,” he said.
How is Booker’s living room?
The hallway gives way to a very large living room, and the dominant colour is cream. It is on the walls, and the seats with large Afrocentric pillows also grab the attention of anyone walking into the living room. The house mainly boasts wooden flooring throughout, which is brought more to life by the rug at the heart of the living room.
“It is a square living room, and I love spending time here; we have conversations, watch TV, and even strike business deals here.”
The large living room has access to a huge patio with a garden that gets regular professional landscaping. There is also a dining area on the patio with folding chairs, a swing chair, and a heater, and everything is curated by the locals.
“I have a fire pit in the middle,” he said proudly.
“The gardener maintains it for us, and it includes flowers, plants, and even herbs, such as mint for tea, among others used for tea and food. That is where I exercise. There is a security wall covered in vines. It is really a colourful experience in the garden; there is healing there,” he said.

What is cooking in Booker’s kitchen?
The house boasts two kitchens, with the first being an open-plan kitchen featuring a warm and stylish combination of cream-coloured walls and rough-cut stones on some parts of the walls. It is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances to help his cook, Vio, produce some of the most sumptuous meals.
“The second kitchen is for preparing for events, so we have a burner, a fryer, and a pantry.”
What’s on Booker’s first floor?
On the first floor of Booker’s humongous house are four bedrooms and a walk-in closet, all with extremely high ceilings. The only problem is that guests don’t want to leave whenever they visit. All the bedrooms are large, offering guests their own spaces, and all the bathrooms have built-in closets.
“I love that the soaking tub is large and all the mirrors are backlit, with marble floors from Italy, high ceilings, and a built-in closet with everything I need. I have lived in the US in many houses, but I have never used a closet as huge and as well organised as this,” he said.
What is on Booker’s second floor?
Many people would love to have everything on Booker’s second floor under one roof; the space includes a gym, spa, sauna, and jacuzzi.
“I try to get a massage once a week. You can get a massage and a cold shower; I have a large jacuzzi, and it is private. The routine is that you can go from the jacuzzi to the sauna, massage, and finally a cold shower,” he said.
For KSh 450,000, Booker said that he also got a maid’s quarters, a double-car garage, concierge service, gym, and pool, and he insists it is not just about the material but also about the lifestyle.
“In the US, KSh 450,000 can only get you a nice two-bedroom apartment,” he said.
