On Wednesday, February 19, Wanga received a warm welcome as he popularised the Orange party in Rongo town ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Did Gladys Wanga criticise Edwin Sifuna?
Wanga, who was on her way from the burial of a friend in Kanga, drummed her support for party leader Oburu Oginga amid ongoing wrangles in the movement.

Wanga stated that the Orange party remains the only party rooted in unity, social justice and inclusive governance.
“Asante sana Rongo Town! ODM Party remains the vehicle to prosperity, rooted in unity, social justice, and inclusive governance. Chama iko imara Rongo!” Wanga said.
In her speech, Wanga hit out at the embattled secretary general Edwin Sifuna, who questioned the legitimacy of Oburu’s leadership.
The Homa Bay governor wondered why Sifuna was opposing Oburu, yet he participated in the National Governing Council (NGC), which confirmed the Siaya senator as the party leader.
“Raila left us on the 15th. A day after, I called the party’s National Executive Committee, where Sifuna sits, and the NEC unanimously appointed Oburu as the acting party leader. His position was confirmed by the party’s National Governing Council NGC in Mombasa in November. During the NGC, it was Sifuna who gave Oburu the bible he used for his swearing in. Sifuna then announced that we now had a substantive party leader. It beats logic that he now goes around saying that Oburu is in office illegally. Looks like Sifuna is being haunted,” she stated.

What did Gladys Wanga say about 10-point agenda?
She urged party members and officials in the grassroots to remain steadfast and continue with the registration of members into the party.
During the well-attended rally, Wanga strongly defended the broad-based government under the leadership of President William Ruto.
According to Wanga, the party is more concerned with the implementation of the 10-point agenda agreed upon between the late former prime minister Raila Odinga and Ruto.
“The party fully supports the implementation of the 10-point agenda. We want the issue of compensation of protest victims acted upon. We are asking MPs to ensure the funds are included in the budget,” she stated.
What did Wanga say about Edwin Sifuna’s ouster?
Meanwhile, following Sifuna’s removal from the influential position, Wanga stated that the process aligned with the party’s constitution.
The politician stated that the NEC meeting, attended by 34 members with two apologies, met the quorum requirement for decision-making, despite the controversy surrounding the ouster.
She accused Sifuna of being indisciplined and straying from ODM’s key decisions, insisting that the senator was mistaken to oppose the party.
