In a notice on Monday, February 23, Kenya Met issued the weather forecast for the next seven days, from February 24 to March 2.
Which 7 regions will receive rainfall over next 7 days?
According to the weather forecast, several parts of the country are expected to receive rains with isolated heavy rainfall expected in seven regions.

“Rains are expected to continue over several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur in the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Southeastern Lowlands, Coast, Western, and Northwestern Kenya,” Kenya Met said.
Counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley are Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori and Narok.
The Highlands east of the Rift Valley comprise the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi.
The southeastern lowlands have Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana River county.
The coast region comprises Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the Tana Delta.
According to the weatherman, daytime maximum temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
The minimum temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt Kilimanjaro.
Weather review for February 9 to 15
Rainfall was recorded in a few parts of the country, mainly in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.
The highest seven-day rainfall total (106.6mm) was recorded at the rainfall station at Kamusinga High School in Bungoma County.
The rainfall station at Eluuya Girls’ Secondary School in Bungoma County recorded the highest amount of rainfall within 24-hours: 68.7mm on February 15.
Comparing it to the previous week, it was noted that rainfall amounts increased in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.

Elsewhere, the Cabinet approved the release of KSh 4.1 billion to strengthen drought response efforts as conditions worsened across several counties.
The decision was made during a meeting on February 10, after officials observed that the failure of the October–December 2025 short rains had deepened food and water shortages.
The government estimated that 3.3 million people were facing acute food insecurity, a figure projected to rise to 3.6 million by June.
